Warooga Preschool Room

Warooga is a Dharug aboriginal word meaning ‘child’

The Room

Our preschool room has 27 children between 3 and 6 years of age.

Four dedicated early childhood educators provide a learning environment that recognises the individual nature of each child.

With a variety of small group times, specific task times, structured and unstructured play experiences the Warooga team have specifically designed an atmosphere of learning, living and connecting.

Our innovative Transition to School program with visits to a school means that children have the opportunity to take an active role in their transition process.

Room Philosophy

Top

Ø        We believe that children learn through hands on experiences and support the importance of play in the child’s life.

Ø        We believe that each child is individual and unique and deserves caring professionals to support, direct, collaborate and engage in learning with them.

Ø        We believe in an ethos of attachment where relationships are important in the lives of child.

Ø        We believe that the family plays the central role in the life of the child and that fostering relationships with the child’s family is important.

Ø        We believe that transitions are an important part of children’s life and the best way to prepare a child for change is to help them develop the skills to engage in self learning.

The staff in the Warooga Room work a variety of shifts across the day so that the person you greet of a morning may not be the one you say goodbye to of an evening.  However every effort is made to ensure a communicative, collaborative team.

Keira: Bach Teaching Early Childhood – M, Tu, W.  Keira joined our team in April 2006 and her focus on early literacy sees her as a valued member of the Blue Mountains Literacy Group to promote literacy across the mountains. Keira brings her dedication to education and learning to the Centre. Keira’s focus is the 4-5 year olds.

Belinda: Early Childhood Teacher – Thurs and Fri.  Belinda joined our team in 2008 and with her experience both in Early Childhood settings and in formal school she is able to promote early childhood education and learning through her interest in project work. Belinda’s focus is the 4-5 year olds.

Kylie: Advanced Child Care Worker Qualified - Full Time. Kylie joined our team in 2007 with over 8 years experience in Early Childhood Education. Kylie has an energy and enthusiasm for children that instantly engages interactions and a bright and bubbly personality that children and families quickly warm to.
